The Need For This Course

Budgetary is one of the most powerful management processes in use in both private and public sectors of any economy. The end result of the budgeting process is the preparation of plans and actions for future periods. These plans coordinate and reflect the various activities within an organisation be it Government or private sector and assist in organizational control, decision making and performance evaluation.

In addition to the above-mentioned values of budgeting, Government budget is a macroeconomic tool in the hand of Government to manage the economy. While the Central Bank of Nigeria as the monetary authority in the country, the Federal Government through the Ministry of Finance is in charge of fiscal policy. The key instrument in the fiscal policy of the Government is the Federal Budget. Knowledge and skills in budget preparation, approval, monitoring and implementation are key elements in the expected competencies of senior officers of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Departments and Agencies.

It is in recognition of this fact that this 3-day course is designed.

  • Acquire knowledge of cost analysis, cost control and budgetary control.
  • Manage expenditure votes effectively.
  • Undertake Investment Appraisal Techniques (capital budgeting)
  • Apply the concept of whistle blowing
